Now beginning its seventh year, Farms for Folks provides home deliveries of fresh food from local farmers to Alger County neighbors who struggle to access high-quality food. Totally funded by donations and run by volunteers, it's a win-win for both recipients and farmers.
Last Year’s Impact
In 2025, Farms for Folks provided 55 families with fresh vegetables, bread, pork, honey, eggs, chicken, mushrooms, and more. The program has grown steadily each year, and we’re proud to be reaching more families than ever.
Who Qualifies
To qualify for Farms for Folks deliveries, households must live in Alger County and meet two or more of the following criteria: do not have access to a car, are a senior citizen, veteran, or disabled, most of the time do not have enough money to buy fresh groceries, are a Medicaid or SSDI recipient, need to frequent the food pantry often, or have no access to the closest farmers market and no ability to have a garden of their own.
How You Can Help
Farms for Folks is totally funded by donations and run entirely by volunteers. Whether you can help with harvesting, sorting, packing, or delivering — or prefer to support with a financial contribution — every bit makes a difference. If donating by check, write “FFF” on the memo line to direct your gift to this program.
